Spring Walk

Spring Walk.

There was an attempt during the early 19th century to turn Thetford into a Spa Town. A spa and pump station were constructed to produce what were claimed to be health-giving spring waters. Today, Spring Walk is a pretty riverside walk, that connects the town centre via the Mill and Butten Island, to the Nuns Bridges area, and on to the BTO (British Trust of Ornithology headquarters) nature reserve walk, that leads out of town to Nuns Lakes.

Thetford is well served by green areas, and riverside walks. Thetford is also surrounded by Thetford Forest, a large publicly owned pine forest, with plenty of free public access.
